The Parental Control App Kids Can't Easily Remove

Blocks uninstall, disable and factory-reset attempts, built in India for Indian parents.

Most parental control apps last about as long as it takes your kid to search "how to remove parental controls" on YouTube. Here's what actually happens when a child tries to beat DigiRaksha โ€” and why most apps can't stop it.

The three ways kids usually beat parental control apps

1
Uninstalling the app directly from Settings โ†’ Apps.
2
Disabling the permission the app needs to function (usually Accessibility Service), which silently breaks all its monitoring without actually removing the app.
3
Factory-resetting the device โ€” the nuclear option. Wipes everything, including the parental control app, back to a blank phone.

Many parental control apps block #1. Fewer handle #2 reliably, and #3 is the hardest to protect against.

How DigiRaksha handles all three

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Uninstall Guard

DigiRaksha detects and blocks attempts to open its own app-info/uninstall screen โ€” a child can't even reach the "Uninstall" button without the parent's PIN.

๐Ÿ”’ Tamper Protection

If a child tries to disable Accessibility Service, turn off Device Admin, or touch any setting DigiRaksha depends on, the app detects and blocks the attempt in real time โ€” before the permission actually gets revoked.

๐Ÿšซ Bypass Detection

DigiRaksha specifically watches for and blocks attempts to reach the factory reset screen itself โ€” so a child can't even start that process without the parent's PIN, instead of hoping a post-reset Google account check catches it afterward.

Note: a full reset done through recovery mode (using the phone's hardware buttons) can't be blocked by any app. In that case, Android's Factory Reset Protection asks for the Google account that was on the device, which keeps the phone locked to your family account.

Why this is hard to build

It's genuinely harder to build. Blocking uninstall is table stakes โ€” most apps manage that. But reliably detecting an attempt to disable Accessibility Service, or intercepting the path to the factory reset screen, requires real-time monitoring of system settings navigation, not just a static permission lock. It's also easy to get subtly wrong โ€” we found and fixed several edge cases in our own implementation through extensive real-device testing (continuous use, device reboots, different Android OEMs) before being confident this holds up in practice, not just in theory.

What DigiRaksha intentionally doesn't do

DigiRaksha doesn't read your child's messages, photos, or call history. Tamper protection is about keeping the safety features active โ€” not about surveilling everything on the device. You get real protection, not invasive monitoring.

Frequently asked questions

Can my child uninstall DigiRaksha?

Not without the parent PIN. DigiRaksha's Uninstall Guard blocks access to its uninstall screen, so a child can't reach the "Uninstall" button.

Can a parental control app survive a factory reset?

No app can survive a full reset done through recovery mode. DigiRaksha blocks attempts to start a factory reset from Settings without the parent PIN. For recovery-mode resets, Android's Factory Reset Protection asks for the Google account that was on the device.

Does DigiRaksha read my child's messages or photos?

No. DigiRaksha never reads messages, photos or calls. Tamper protection only keeps the safety features switched on.

How much does DigiRaksha cost?

You can try it free for 5 days. Plans start from โ‚น70/month.
